What IT does a new business need?
Most small businesses need a domain name, branded email, Microsoft 365 for files and meetings, a secure laptop for each person, a backup, a website and someone to call when something goes wrong. If you have an office, add broadband, Wi-Fi and a router with a firewall. Start with the domain, because everything else depends on it.
How much does IT setup for a new business cost?
It depends on how many people and devices you have, and which parts you need. Our websites cost from £699 + VAT, and we’ll quote for everything else before any work begins.
Do I need a business email address?
Yes, from day one. An address on your own domain looks more professional than a free webmail address, and it stays yours if you change provider.
Can you set up laptops before my staff start?
Yes. We supply Dell, HP and Lenovo laptops and prepare them with Microsoft 365 and security before they arrive, so each person can sign in and get to work.
Do I need IT support from day one?
Yes, but it can start small. Many small businesses begin with ad hoc IT support, without a long-term agreement, then move to managed IT services as the team grows. We offer both.
Can you build our website as well?
Yes. We design and build WordPress websites for small businesses from £699 + VAT, ready for Google and your Google Business Profile from launch. See our website design page for examples.
What should go on a new business IT checklist?
A domain name, branded email, Microsoft 365 accounts, secure laptops, a backup plan, a website, a Google Business Profile and a business phone number. Most new businesses don’t need their own server, because Microsoft 365 keeps files in the cloud. Get the domain right first, and the rest builds on it.
